J&S Kennels Breeder of Field Gordon Setters

Just want to say Mike and Pati Stolhand at J & S Kennel in Ponca City are bird dog people.  They use the Ronnie Smith Kennel system for training and it works!

 

I have a 20 month old English Setter, Cowboy.  I am very pleased to have  had  Cowboy complete their 3 month program.  He was a wild frisky bird dog and after training ,  is now a programmed hunting dog.  Still green on wild birds yes, but the Smith system works! So far he's pointed two wild pheasant, the season opened yesterday here in Oklahoma.

 

I always thought the dogs  that were calm and heeled,  were lap dog type.  Not so, my dog heels, is disciplined and also a well started dog.

Mike and Pati put the equivalent of a full productive season of experience on Cowboy, in 3 months.  I shot some birds the other day he had pointed, and one flew out of sight after being hit twice.  Cowboy comes running back on a long retrieve with that bird!

 

I've been blessed with 3 really good bird dogs since 1976, and now I am well on my way to number 4!  The J & S Kennel system goes a step farther, by training  the dog to come by ecollar tone.  My plan is to hunt pheasant and keep him in range stealth,  without saying a word.  Ever hunted late season pheasant?  The ecollar is used predominately on low stimulation along with tone,  for calling your dog.  We used the collar on my hand to know just what the dog is feeling.
